I was also wondering about this question..
From what I understand, if you are hoping to transfer into a registered (e.g. TFSA in Canada) account to shelter your growth from taxes, you would have to transfer your holdings into a synthetic drip, in which case only full share dividends are re-invested (the rest are put into cash).

So I'm wondering if anyone recommends focusing on growing fewer holdings to be able to transfer them faster earlier into a synthetic drip to lower taxes and then diversifying later?
